  Zach Sobiech- 18- year-old inspiration

  "You don't have to find out you're dying to start living." Pretty big words for a teenager, but that's why Zach Sobiech inspired milions of people when he wrote and sang the song "Clouds". A few weeks ago, several celebrities were so inspired they created a tribute video to Zach's song that went viral, and is now the #1 song on Itunes. Zach passed away this week after a courageous battle with cancer, and left millions of viewers, including me, to be moved by his strength!

• Here comes the bride.....

  I've been noticing a trend, that I find a bit disturbing. Black Wedding dresses. I get black. I love black. I wear it every day. Black is slimming, white is not. Black is sexy, white - not so much. Black stays cleaner and doesn't fade, white, well...I could go on. But a black wedding dress does not stand up to tradition, and I believe it's a passing fad. I think if I were to have worn a black wedding dress, my mother would have fainted, but I think I would regret it looking back at wedding pictures 26 years later. Am I being old fashioned????

• Prince 3 hour concert!!!

  Still going at 3am!!!

  Prince showed his fans he still has it this weekend at SXSW in Austin when he closed out the music festival with a 3 hour show! He played everything from a slow rendition of Purple Rain, to covers of Michael Jackson's Don't Stop, Janet's "What Have you Done Lately"! He wore out the fans, who started to leave after 2 hours- but I sure hope he takes this show on the road!

  I love it when I get to do something fun and help a good cause at the same time! Thanks to the awesome River team who bowled with my husband Jeff and I yesterday to help raise money for the Kitchen. I've been blessed to have gotten to know some of the key people that run this amazing "campus" in Springfield, Kristie and Kippie, and am so glad that The River has been able to partner with this unbelievable organization.

  I thought I wanted new knives for Christmas- and I got these beautiful, but dangerously sharp knives that are from Costco. Now I have the bandaids to prove it- and probably will ask for a year's supply of bandaids next year for Christmas!

  I just read a survey done where people were asked- who is the celebrity you would most like to go away in 2013? Some of the top names mentioned were any Kardashian, Honey Boo Boo, Justin Bieber and Psy (Gangnam Style).

• To Furby or not to Furby!

  I've been running around trying to find the coolest toys out there for new nieces and nephew! I was all excited that the new Furby's are out- but they are pretty expensive- starting around $60! So, I came across a really good list of the hottest toys out there this year and there are some so cool that I want one! Good luck shopping!

  I came across a website that saved me a lot of time and money! If you have certain gifts you have to get- say a Keureg Coffee maker, you can find the best deal for it, who has free shipping etc...I found out I can buy this on Amazon for just over $100 with free shipping!

• Cheap Gas!

  I was so excited after returning from Central Missouri, where gas was under $3- only to get home and find it still over $3 in Springfield! It is getting less though- and is down to $3.03- the best places are Sam's Club and Murphys.

• Crosslines needs your help!

  Every year, Crosslines provides Christmas for all the people in the Ozarks that have become a statistic.....lost a job, got sick or just can't make ends meet. We at the River have taken on a huge task to help them supply their toy store, and we need your help. If you can afford to pick up at least one extra toy, we would love to deliver it to Crosslines! We'll be out Saturday morning from 11a-1pm at Hobbytown on South Glenstone. Bring a toy valued at $10 or more and we'll give you some yummy free food from Fazoli's and the first 10 people to donate get a River t-shirt!

• What to do with $550k???

  As the Powerball grows, it does make you at least stop and think, What would I do with all that money? I always think, I won't be one of those people that squanders it and winds up ruined and broke and lonely. I think the best way to keep that from happening would be to use it for a good cause! (after buying a new Jaguar of course and mom a new Cadillac!) I think I would like to be one of those "anonymous" Santa Clauses that randomly gives away free money! Wouldn't it be fun to do that and stand back and watch the chaos ensue??

  I was so happy when I saw a friend of mine on Facebook's post that now lives in NY that her power just came back on. I knew she has a little boy, and I can't imagine that there's a storm coming and so many people still don't have power, running water or even a home.
