Springfield City Manager Greg Burris has resigned from his job, but will stay on through the end of June.
Burris is expected to transition into his new job as executive director of the Give 5 program – the city’s program to attract retirees who want to be involved in volunteerism.
Burris originally told city council in August that he wanted to resign at the end of February.
But council convinced him to stay through June so the city could finish the fiscal year 2019 budget.
Springfield hopes to have a new city manager in place by July 1st.
