Springfield Police have released the name of the officer who shot and killed a man this week.
Corporal Clinton Collier is on leave with pay after shooting a man who came at police with a knife.
Collier has been on the force for 12 years.
Police were responding to a disturbance call at the Sunset Place Apartments on south Meadowbrook Monday night.
Officers heard a woman screaming inside and forced open the door.
Police say they tried to get Bryan Ryder to drop his knife, but he came at them and was shot.
Police say a woman inside the apartment had injuries that may have been caused by Ryder.
Police are still investigating the shooting.
