LATEST: Potential Snowfall Up To Five Inches

A winter storm is moving into the Ozarks and temperatures Sunday into Monday could hit record lows.

The National weather service in Springfield says a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Meteorologist Steve Lindenberg says the snow will come down heaviest during the overnight hours. Up to five inches could fall around Osage Beach and central Missouri. Springfield could get around three inches of snow, with lesser amounts expected towards Branson.

The wind chill Sunday after the snowfall could hit the negatives.

“We’re looking at temperatures dropping into the single digits after the snowfall Sunday night. Around 4 degrees here in Springfield with wind chill values well below zero,” says Lindenberg.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has issued a statewide “No Travel Advisory” for the duration of this weekend’s snowstorm.
