The Stone County Sheriff says a man has died following a stand off at a home on Dockhouse Lane, off Y Highway.
Deputies were first called to the scene for the report of an open 911 line.
When they arrived, they approached a woman who was standing in the roadway.
The sheriff says a man then walked outside of the house and fired multiple rounds at them, with three rounds striking one of their patrol vehicles.
Deputies were able to get to a secure location with the woman while the male walked back into the home.
The sheriff says deputies tried to make contact with the man but were unable to. More gunshots were heard around the house.
Several hours later, deputies entered the house and found a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The sheriff says the man was identified as 27-year-old from Springfield.
