Springfield City Council Meets For First Time Since Elections

Springfield City Council members passed several measures in their first meeting since the April 2nd Elections.

Members approved a measure that would allow Springfield police officers to buy back their weapons when they retire from the department.

The council also said yes to a plan to widen Cherry Street between Barnes and Oak Grove. Members accepted a bid from Hamilton and Dad, Inc. It’s costing the city a little over $2 million.

City Council also approved an application for HUD funding. The application is seeking more than $2 million for a number of different projects in the city.

Members also adopted changes to the city’s comprehensive plan, specifically amendments to the Phelps Grove Neighborhood Plan.
