Man Charged With Dragging Officer At Dollar General

Charges have been filed against a man who Springfield Police say dragged an officer with a van Tuesday.

Kyle Grozinger from Springfield is charged with dragging the officer at the Dollar General near Kansas and Division.

Court records say police had been called to the store because Grozinger seemed to be asleep in the minivan and wasn’t moving.

When police did a traffic stop, they found out his minivan was stolen and he had warrants.

He told police that he had to get to court to pick up his wife.

When police told him the van was stolen and told him to get out, Grozinger turned and faced the front of the vehicle.

One officer told him “Don’t do it.”

One officer reached in and tried to grab the keys, but Grozinger put the van in drive and dragged her across the parking lot, leaving her with bumps and bruises.

The rear wheel narrowly missed her head.

A backup officer fired three shots into the van.

Grozinger was arrested near Cox North after he tried to run from police.

He had two gunshot wounds.

Police say Grozinger kept apologizing for dragging the officer and asked if she was ok.
