Rogersville Family Fighting More Than One Battle After Tuesday’s Tornadoes

After an E-F2 Tornado swept through Ozark and bounced to Rogersville Tuesday night, several families are trying to piece back together lifetime memories— gone in minutes.

The Campbell family says words can’t describe the loss they feel, especially while fighting through health issues.

“This has been a lot. They’re keeping up their spirits throughout this but just trying to figure out how to move forward and pick up the pieces of what they can.”

Gabrielle Campbell says her uncle’s home in town was completely destroyed, and little to no furniture was salvageable.

“The whole roof was blown-off completely. It’s so devastating to see a place that held so much memory, that was so welcoming to the whole family, was totally lost in a mere thirty minutes.”

Campbell says she and her husband were at the movies when the twister touched down. As the theater gave the all clear to resume the movie, she got a call saying the home was gone and they went to assess the damage.

“I just felt so helpless. There’s nothing left and this is a family that has constantly given to others. I’m over 2,000 miles away from my biological family and they’ve always had a place for me in their home,” said Campbell.

On top of all the sudden devastation for the family, the uncle, Galin Campbell, is battling Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Luckily, he and his wife weren’t at home during the storm. They traveled to Kansas City for cancer treatments.

But Galin’s wife says the two didn’t know when they left, it would be the last time they saw their home.

“When she saw the house for the first time after the blow, there’s no words you can say that would ease something like this,” says Gabrielle.

Galin and his wife recently adopted a son and have a daughter who’s engaged to be married later this year.

The family has created a Go-Fund Me page as a fundraiser for Galin’s health expenses and funds for rebuilding.

“They’ve given so much to others, now it’s our turn to help them,” says Campbell.
