Springfield Police Arrest Second Shooting Suspect After Standoff

Springfield Police say a man who was arrested after a standoff near Highway 65 was wanted for a shooting last month.

Cortell Scott, 30, was wanted for a shooting at a home at 722 West Lois on April 28 that left a man with critical injuries.

He’s still recovering at a local hospital.

Scott was arrested Thursday at the Woodgate Apartments near Ingram Mill and Whiteside.

He’s charged with assault, along with Deandre Walls, who was arrested not long after the shooting.

Court records say the men fired several shots into the home on Lois last month.

But they may have missed the person they were trying to hit.

A woman who was in the home at the time says she believes the shots were meant for her.

She says Scott believes she stole something from him, which she has denied.

Three children were also in the home at the time of the shooting.

They were not hurt.
