Springfield Police are investigating after a man tried to rape a woman Thursday on the Missouri State campus.
Gregory Morton, Jr., 32, a registered sex offender, is charged with attacking the woman – who’s a university employee – while she was in the bathroom of Cheek Hall.
She was able to get away and call 911.
Missouri State Public Safety officers stopped Morton and held him until police arrived.
Morton is also a suspect in several other crimes being investigated by police.
The victim, an MSU employee, had entered a women’s bathroom in Cheek Hall. As the victim was exiting a stall in the bathroom the male suspect suddenly grabbed her. The victim struggled with the suspect and was able to escape and run from the bathroom. (2/4)
