Springfield Could Raise Age To Purchase Tobacco

The city of Springfield could soon raise the age limit for purchasing tobacco products.

The Springfield Greene County Health Department is pushing to raise the legal age from 18 to 21.

The initiative is recognized as “Tobacco 21” and would include e-cigarettes.

The city is set to hear the proposal on June 17th and vote two weeks later.

If the ordinance passes, it will start to be implemented 60 days after the vote.
