Missouri Audit Finds About 1,000 Missing Sex Offenders-A 21% Decline From 2018 Probe

A state audit released today finds about 1,000 sex offenders are unaccounted for in Missouri – a 21-percent decline from a 2018 review of the state’s sex offender registry.

State Auditor Nicole Galloway tells Missourinet the follow-up report found that the number of outstanding arrest warrants for noncompliance has increased.

Galloway applauds law enforcement’s increased efforts to track down those failing to register, verify their address and notify law enforcement when they move.

According to online file information obtained from the Missouri State Highway Patrol sex offender registry, the state has about 19,100 registered sex offenders.
