The Springfield Police Department is warning people to be aware of scam calls involving someone asking for money while impersonating an officer.
The department says people have reported getting called by a person representing himself as an SPD officer.
The caller then demands money from the target to prevent charges being filed.
Police are telling people to be advised that SPD will never call you and request money over the phone for any reason.
