NWS: Hot Temperatures In The Ozarks And A Chance For Severe Weather

It’s a hot and humid start to the week as temperatures will be in the 90s the next few days.

The National Weather Service says if clouds and precipitation can clear out of the area this afternoon, some locations may have heat index values rise to around 100 to 104 degrees.

Heat index values on Monday are expected to be from the upper 90s to around 106. By Tuesday heat index values are expected from around 105 to 112 degrees.

Meteorologists say there’s also a threat for severe weather.

The National Weather Service says thunderstorm development is possible this evening into the overnight hours. If enough instability can develop then severe thunderstorms with hail to the size of quarters and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph would be possible.

A chance for scattered thunderstorm will return by the middle of next week.
