A man from Joplin has been found dead after police received a well-being call asking for someone to check up on him.
The well-being check was dispatched at 12:53 p.m. Wednesday, and when officers arrived they found the man already deceased. Inside of the apartment there were scorch and burn marks.
The Fire Marshall has been called to assist in the investigation.
An autopsy will be performed, but results are not currently available.
