Former CASA Director of Northern Arkansas Accused of Embezzlement

The former director of the CASA of northern Arkansas has been accused of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars away from the organization and the children who benefit from it.

The CASA exists to protect children who may be exposed to domestic violence and drug use.

Former Katie Rylee is charged with stealing over 40,000 dollars. CASA lost an additional 20,000 dollars because of interest on unpaid taxes and loans. Authorities say that she spent the money on restaurants and other luxuries for herself, as well as forging documents necessary to make it happen.

The organization is now in a difficult financial situation. It gets its funding from fines and penalties that offenders have to pay.
