A city alderman in Birch Tree is charged with burning a city building after the Board of Alderman voted to lease it to Shannon County.
Fred McAfee originally voted to turn the building into office space.
But he later asked to change his vote, and the Board of Aldermen said no.
A short time later, firefighters were called to the burning building.
McAfee was there smiling.
He admitted starting the fire.
There’s no word on why he did it.
