A former lieutenant for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office will serve six consecutive life sentences in prison for the sexual abuse of an 8-year-old girl.
David Hastings, 68, was originally convicted in October of 11 felonies, including child molestation and statutory sodomy and statutory rape.
One assistant Greene County prosecutor said Hastings groomed the victim before sexually abusing her.
Court documents say the abuse went on for more than a year.
Reports say the victim said Hastings would show her pornography and then asked her to perform the same acts on him
Hastings is said to maintain his innocence.
The News-Leader reported the assistant prosecutor asked the judge for a sentence that would give the victim “peace of mind” and ensure that she’d never have to see Hastings again.
Hastings’ attorney says he will appeal.
