Oak Hill And Paul VI Advance To Bass Pro Tournament Of Champions Finals

Oak Hill Academy is in the championship game of the 36th Bass Pro Tournament of Champions at JQH Arena.

The Warriors will play Paul VI Catholic High out of Fairfax Virginia at 9:00 p.m. Saturday.

The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

A big crowd of 6,713 watched Friday’s semifinals at The Q.

Paul VI Catholic High (Fairfax, VA) 74, Booker T. Washington (Tulsa, OK) 60: 

After leading 32-28 at the half, the Panthers pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Hornets 19-11 in the period.

Trevor Keels put on a show for the Panthers, scoring 25 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.

Jeremy Roach added 17 for Paul VI, who outscored Booker T. Washington 46-16 in the paint.

Bryce Thompson led the Hornets with 25 points.

Paul VI improves to 13-3 this season.

Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Virginia) 56 St. Louis Vashon 51:

The Warriors run their Bass Pro Tournament of Champions record to 11-0, leading from start to finish in their win over the Wolverines.

Oak Hill took a 28-20 halftime lead, but wasn’t able to pull away.

Vashon got within three of the lead four different times in the fourth quarter, but could never catch the Warriors.

Cam Thomas scored 20 points for Oak Hill, which runs its record to 25-1 on the season.

Cam’ron Fletcher scored 28 of Vashon’s 51 points and added 13 rebounds.

The Wolverines drop to 9-4.

Greenwood 61, Greensboro Day School 57:

The Blue Jays came from behind in the fourth quarter to advance to Saturday’s consolation final and become the first team from the Ozarks to win either a first or second round game in the TOC since 2013.

Aminu Mohammed followed Thursday’s 31 point performance with another 31 point game, hitting 11 of 24 shots from the field and pulling down 13 rebounds.

Greenwood led early, but the Bengals went into the locker room at the half up 30-24 and built up a 48-40 lead after three quarters.

Tommy Pinegar hit a three pointer with 3:00 left in regulation that knotted the score 53-53, and Kaden Stuckey hit a jumper in the paint that put the Blue Jays in front 56-55.

Stuckey hit a layup at the 1:14 mark that increased the lead to three, 58-55.

The Bengals had a chance to tie the game, but Cam Hayes missed a three pointer with 25 seconds left, and after Greensboro Day got the offensive rebound, Hayes was called for an offensive foul with 9.5 seconds to go.

Pinegar was fouled and drained two free throws to seal the win for the Blue Jays, who improve to 13-2 on the season.

Bryce Harris scored 24 points for the Bengals, who drop to 21-4.

Christ the King (Middle Village, NY) 71, Springfield Kickapoo 66

The Royals won a back and forth game that featured ten ties and 16 lead changes. Kickapoo led 13-9 after one quarter, but the Royals came back to take a 30-27 lead at the half.

Kickapoo went up by three at the end of the third period, and when Cameron Liggins drained a three pointer with 4:20 left in regulation, the Chiefs had a 60-56 advantage.

But Christ the King got a layup from Sterling Jones to knot the contest 60-60 with 3:17 remaining.

Anton Brookshire sank two free throws for the Chiefs at the 3:03 mark to put his team up 62-60 before the Royals got it tied again on a jumper by Ryan Myers with 2:49 left.

Elijah Bridgers drained a three pointer with 2:03 remaining to put the Chiefs back in front, but after two made free throws, the Royals took the lead for good on Jones’ layup with 1:13 to go.

Jones led all scorers with 23 points, while Myers put in 20 points for Christ the King, who improves to 4-7 on the season.

Brookshire’s 20 points were tops for the Chiefs, who drop to 8-5 and get set to play in the seventh place game on Saturday.
