MoDOT is reporting highways in southwest Missouri are starting to get covered as winter weather moves through the Ozarks.

We’ve had numerous crashes along James River Freeway since 8 a.m. Wednesday, including two crashes eastbound on James River at Sunshine, westbound on James River just east of West Bypass, westbound on James River just west of West Bypass.

We’ve also had wrecks on Interstate 44, including a vehicle that’s flipped at I-44 and Highway 65 in Springfield and westbound I-44 past the 70 exit at the 69.2 mile marker.

Please allow extra time to get where you’re going.

Earlier, slick roadways were reported with light snow in Monett, Aurora, and Pierce City, with additional reports of sleet in El Dorado Springs and Appleton City.
