Some representatives believe re-licensing should be done away with in Missouri, instead simply allowing professionals who move from out of state to transfer their licenses.
Two bills have passed the state house doing that, one of which only applies to military spouses, and the other applying to all professionals.
The bill allowing military spouses to transfer their professional licenses also includes a clause saying that teaching licenses would not be transferable.
Critics say the bills would risk lowering the professional standards in Missouri.
