Hy-Vee Reserves First Hour of Shopping for High-Risk Shoppers

Hy-Vee, Inc. has responded to customer requests by reserving one hour of shopping prior to new opening times for those considered high-risk during the pandemic.

The reserved hour will be from 7 to 8 AM, seven days a week.

The customers allowed in stores during this hour are:

  • Anyone age 60 and older
  • Expectant mothers
  • Anyone with an underlying health condition that makes them more susceptible to serious illness.

The statement says:

“We are extremely concerned about the spread of the virus, and want to respond to our customers who are at higher risk of serious illness by offering them a time where they may feel a bit safer shopping in our stores,” Hy-Vee Chairman, CEO and President Randy Edeker says.

Pharmacies in most Hy-Vee locations will also be extending their hours so they can serve this group of customers during the extra hour.

These locations include pharmacies inside Hy-Vee stores, Mainstreet locations, Dollar Fresh stores and Hy-Vee Drugstores.

All other customers are asked to please respect this hour reserved especially for at-risk customers and limit their arrival to after 8 am.
