Scattered Severe Storms Possible In The Ozarks This Afternoon

Quarter size hail, 60 mile per hour wind gusts and cloud to ground lightning will all be possible with scattered storms that move across the Ozarks Monday afternoon and early evening.

The National Weather Service says much of southwest Missouri is under a slight risk for severe weather, including the Springfield metro area.

That’s an upgrade from an earlier marginal risk for the area.

Meteorologists say the biggest threat will be large hail, although damaging winds will be possible in the more established thunderstorms.

Those storms will clear out Monday night, with a sunny day expected on Tuesday.

Forecasters say additional thunderstorms will be possible from late Tuesday night into early Thursday and again towards next weekend as a pair of storm systems track across our area.
