Hotel Occupancy Rates In Springfield Well Below Normal Levels But Trending Upward

Hotels in Springfield continue to lose business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau says while occupancy is still well below the normal levels for this time of year, it is trending upward after hitting a low of just over 21% in early April.

The report shows for May 17-23, occupancy was 41.1%, which is 42.5% lower than the same period in 2019.

The average daily rate was $67.32, down more than 28%, and hotel revenue was at $1,172,598, down nearly 58% over a year ago.

The CVB says it’s unlikely we’ll see travel reaching its previous levels until there’s a vaccine or at least good treatments for the coronavirus.
