Taste of SoMo Returning in June

Taste of SoMo will be returning in June with a virtual event made to promote downtown Springfield food culture.

The virtual edition is scheduled for the 19th through the 27th when people can purchase gift cards to use that week.

T-shirts will also be on sale with 100% of proceeds going to Ozarks Food Harvest.

We have the entire SoMo press release below.

SPRINGFIELD — Taste of SoMo, Springfield’s premiere culinary event, has always celebrated our local restaurants, good food and community. That will not change in 2020. The format, however, will.

This year’s Taste of SoMo will not be a sampling event on a packed Park Central Square. Instead, the Downtown Springfield Association, SGC Foodservice and Ozarks Food Harvest are teaming up for Taste of SoMo: The Virtual Edition, a nine-day celebration of Downtown’s food culture.

“In light of this difficult time our restaurants have been facing and large gatherings not being allowed in June, we are planning this virtual Taste of SoMo restaurant week,” Jennifer Moseley, DSA Event Manager, said. “This event is designed to promote our Downtown restaurants, coffee shops and breweries as we partner with Ozarks Food Harvest to raise awareness and funds to help fight hunger in our region.”

Taste of SoMo: The Virtual Edition is scheduled for June 19-27. Foodies can purchase gift cards, in $5 increments, to participating Downtown establishments, with 100% of the proceeds going to the restaurants. Those gift cards can be used that week for dine-in, delivery or takeout service, or they can be saved for future use.

The DSA and Ozarks Food Harvest are also teaming up for a commemorative T-shirt. That special shirt bears the slogan, “Feed It Forward.” 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of Taste of SoMo: The Virtual Edition T-shirts will go to Ozarks Food Harvest. Participants can also donate to OFH while they purchase their gift cards and T-shirts on the Taste of SoMo website.

Taste of SoMo: The Virtual Edition is made possible by partnerships with SGC Food Service, CenturyLink, Community Foundation of the Ozarks, Connell Insurance, Downtown CID, Heart of America Beverage, KOLR 10, Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, and Systematic Savings.
