JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) — A 20-year-old man faces possible first-degree murder charges after two people died in a shooting at a hookah lounge in Joplin during the weekend.

Raymond Badios, of Joplin, was arrested after the shooting Sunday night at the Bites N Pipes Lounge, police said Monday.

Toua Y. Lee, 36, of Joplin, and Chong K. Xiong, 30, of Duenweg, were found dead inside the lounge. Another person was treated for minor injuries.

Police said in a news release they are seeking two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault and three counts of armed criminal action against Badios.

Details about the shooting, including a possible motive, have not been released.

Police were called to the lounge the previous weekend after a woman who appeared to have been assaulted was found unconscious, The Joplin Globe reported.

While the woman was being treated, a scuffle broke out between police officers and onlookers and several people were arrested but police released few other details.

Police have not said if Sunday’s shooting was connected to the previous incident.
