Goodyear Blimp Takes Off From Springfield Airport

People in Springfield got to watch along Division as an American icon took flight Thursday.

One of the three Goodyear Blimps made a stop on its way back to Akron, Ohio.

The blimp holds 10, with a bathroom in the back, known as the “loo with the view”.

The blimp travels with ground crews that meet up with it at different spots all over the country.

Taking over two hours just to get ready to fly, crews had to tune the 200 horse-power, four-cylinder engines and make adjustments to the nearly 300,000 cubic-feet of helium that keeps it afloat.
