COVID-19 Cases Continue To Go Up In Carthage Area

Health officials in Jasper County continue to see a spike in COVID-19 cases, with more than 180 people currently in isolation and several in the hospital.

The majority of cases are in the Carthage area.

The message: If you’re sick or think you may be sick, stay home!

The health department is also cracking down on folks who don’t follow isolation orders, saying they’ll be referred to law enforcement.

The county has had 230 cases of COVID-19 since the outbreak began.

COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It spreads between people who are in close contact with one another.

Symptoms include:

  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
