Hospitals in Springfield are treating more COVID-19 patients now than at any other time during the pandemic.
The Springfield-Greene County Health Director tells city council members as of Tuesday, 51 people are in the hospital, including 18 in ICU and ten on ventilators.
Officials with both CoxHealth and Mercy say they’re confident in the amount of medicine and ventilators available to treat people.
Last week, Cox South opened a 51-bed COVID-19 unit, with room to treat around 100 more people during regular hospital operations.
