Just a day after reporting 37 inmates at the Greene County Jail testing positive for the coronavirus, the sheriff’s office says the number is up to 83.
Nearly 30 officers have tested positive.
The sheriff confirms the virus originated in the trailer housing unit, and has been contained there.
Only a few inmates and staff members have shown symptoms of the virus.
Both inmates and officers are now required to wear masks while inside the facility.
The sheriff says contrary to rumors, inmates who test positive are being quarantined, but they’re not being sent to “solitary.”
