A Springfield officer seriously hurt when the driver of an SUV rammed him into a concrete pillar outside police headquarters on Chestnut Expressway back in June, is coming home Thursday after spending the summer in Colorado for rehabilitation.

Watch video of Officer Mark Priebe’s welcome home!

Priebe suffered a spine injury and broken ribs, and his paralyzed from the assault.

Jon Routh is being held in the Greene County Jail and has also been sued by Officer Priebe and his wife.

Priebe says if it wasn’t for another officer who took action, there would have been a funeral for him.

He says God has kept him here for a reason.

Supporters are asking people to line Highway 174 in Republic between Main Street and Kansas Avenue around 1:00 p.m. Thursday to welcome Priebe home.

The Prayers for Priebe Facebook page has more than 30,000 followers. Priebe’s wife, Heather, posted the following on the page Wednesday:

💙🖤🚔 HOMECOMING TIME🚔🖤💙
Most of you have already seen this being shared on your Facebook feeds and our local station KY3. Tomorrow night at 10 p.m. Mark’s journey to recovery will air.

Mark and I will be returning to Springfield on Thursday, September 10. His homecoming will be limited to family and co-workers at this time. While we would love to have this open to the public and our followers, it is just not possible at this time. As we get settled in to our new life and new routines, we look forward, in the near future, to getting out and being able to say thank you! Thank you for all your prayers, love and support you have given our family since the morning of June 9th. We appreciate each and everyone of you.

I will continue to update our #prayersforpriebe. I have been silent this last week while we spent much needed time with Conner and Chloe. I have several pictures and stories to share, but will save them till we get home.

Thank you again for everything! We love you and appreciate you!
