The Springfield Greene County Health Director is challenging city and county leaders across the Ozarks to look over the data and come up with new ways to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Clay Goddard says only a handful of places outside of Springfield have face mask ordinances.
And he says hospitals are feeling the strain as more people get sick.
He says 65-percent of people now in Springfield hospitals with COVID-19 probably live in one of those places that doesn’t require face masks.
Goddard says he’s worried what the next few weeks will look like.
The number of COVID-19 deaths in Greene County more than doubled in just the last month.
And the current cases are skewing toward older people, bringing with it the chance for more hospitalizations.
