Springfield Police will now be equipped with non-perishable food items to help people in need as a part of a new initiative called the Patrol Pack Program.

In cooperation with Convoy of Hope, Springfield Officers and Greene County Deputies will get a shipment of canned goods separated into tote bags.

“We are very excited to get this new initiative started and we’re thankful for our partnership with Convoy of Hope and their investment in this program,” says Lt. David Meyer. “Our officers at SPD are committed to serving the community and providing assistance in any way we can. Patrol Packs will give us another avenue to accomplish that goal.”

Lt. Meyer was the one who originally brought the idea for the Patrol Pack Program to the SPD.

Officers and Deputies would often pay for food for people out of their own pocket. The Patrol Packs will enable them to help more people more consistently.
