Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway is recommending changes in the city of Clever to increase efficiency and accountability.
The state audits of the city’s books and the municipal court division both had a rating of “good.”
A petition prompted the audit of Clever, which found the town needs to improve payroll controls and procedures, including better review of timesheets and holiday pay.
Town leaders say they’ve already implemented many of the recommendations.
