Flu Shot Clinic Today In Webster County

Flu Shot Clinic Today In Webster County

There’s a drive-thru flu shot clinic in Marshfield today.

The Webster County Health Department is holding the clinic at the Fairgrounds tonight from 5 to 7 p.m.

You don’t need an appointment.

Here’s more from the health department:

“Getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever during 2020-2021 to protect yourself, your family, and your community from flu”, according to Terre Banks, Administrator of the Webster County Health Unit. A flu vaccine this season can also help reduce the burden on our healthcare systems responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and save medical resources for the care of COVID-19 patients. Banks went on to say, “If you haven’t gotten your flu vaccine yet, get vaccinated now!”

To address making flu vaccination more accessible in Webster County, the Health Unit, in partnership with the UMKC School of Pharmacy at MSU, will be offering a drive thru mobile flu vaccine clinic on November 19th from 5-7 pm.

The event will be held at the Webster County Fairgrounds in Marshfield.

When asked why pharmacy students would be interested in getting involved, Lexi Owens, Operation Immunization Chair for students at the Pharmacy School said “As students and future pharmacists, it’s important for us to push boundaries to improve health, and show that we can do so much to help fight disease”. She added “One of our goals as pharmacy students is to make sure that vaccination against disease is quick, easy, and accessible to the public; so participating in something like this is very important for us”.

Flu vaccination will be provided to the first 200 youth (ages 6 months to 18 years) and 200 adults (19+) to attend, and no appointment is required.

This clinic will specifically target those with Medicaid, underinsured, or without insurance.

Individuals with insurance are encouraged to contact their provider, pharmacy, or the health unit to make arrangements to receive the vaccine.

More information can be obtained by calling the Health Unit at 859-2532 or going to http://webstercohealth.com/.
