Governor Parson Leaving It Up To Local Governments To Take Action As COVID-19 Cases Grow

Missouri Governor Mike Parson is holding firm in refusing to issue a statewide mask mandate, despite letters from health care leaders and city and county officials calling on him to take action as COVID-19 cases mount.

Parson stressed several times during a news conference Thursday morning we have to make decisions ourselves rather than government mandating what we should do.

But he’s also promising a public health warning for the entire state, which will include guidance to cities and counties encouraging them to take some sort of action to flatten the curve.

Parson says we’ve had more COVID-19 cases in Missouri through the first half of November than in all of October, and we had more cases in October than the first eight months of the pandemic combined.
