Woman Receives Probation After Pleading Guilty to Felony Endangerment of a Child

A woman who pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of an infant in Christian county has been given five years of probation.

Amber Weeks, 27, has pleaded guilty to four felony counts of first degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Christian County authorities found a three week old baby deceased in Weeks’ house in January of 2018. They served a search warrant on the house in July of 2018 after a man living in the house, Keith Tripp, refused to let them inside. Tripp, 47, has also been charged.

Inside, deputies found standing water in the basement, a cluttered home with only one exit, and the floor covered in animal feces. Deputies report that the house was infested with cockroaches.

Weeks was addicted to opioids at the time and had breastfed her baby while using opioids.

Weeks originally faced 28 years in prison, but the Judge issued a suspended execution of the sentence.

Weeks faced charges along with Tripp, Dawn Williams, 49, and Charles Heck, the father, who was 31.
