Springfield Police Says Fatal Shooting Of Teenager Friday Accidental

Springfield Police have released more details surround a fatal shooting of a teenager on the 2330 block of North Pierce Friday, December 18.

Authorities responded to the home on 2330 N. Pierce, just south of Kearney before 3 p.m. for calls of a person being shot.

Officers discovered on scene, 17-year-old Richard Tyler Corbin who had suffered a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital and later died.

Police says another teenager on scene told authorities she was the one that shot Corbin.

The Springfield Police Department says based on the initial investigation, it appears the shooting was accidental and no arrests have been made.

Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
