City Of Branson Says Credit Card Payments To City Hall Will Have Convenience Fees In January

The city of Branson says starting January 6, 2021,  anyone using a credit card for payments to the city will see a convenience fee with their payment.

The city says that fee is charged by the credit card merchant for processing and is not charged by the city.

For utility payments, people can expect a fee of $2.99 each individual payment and a fee of $1.99 for eChecks.

The city says the best way to avoid the fee is to see up an automatic bank draft.

Any other payment to the city will be charged a 2.75% fee for the use of a credit card.

Starting January 6, 2021, anyone who uses a credit card for payments to the City of Branson (City Hall) will notice a ‘convenience fee’ added to each credit card purchase. This fee is charged directly by the credit card merchant company for the processing of the payment and is not a fee charged by the City.

For utility payments, the credit card merchant will charge $2.99 for each individual payment and $1.99 for each eCheck. To avoid this convenience fee, you can set up an automatic bank draft, if you haven’t already. Existing and new automatic bank drafts are not subject to the convenience fees. You can set up automatic bank drafts in person at the Finance Department at Branson City Hall or by completing an Automatic Bank Draft form and emailing it to utilities@bransonmo.gov. The Automatic Bank Draft form can be found in the “Applications & Permits” section of the City’s website under “Water and Sewer Applications.” Credit card payments for utility bills will not be available between December 31, 2020, and January 6, 2021, while the credit card company makes these changes.

For all other credit card payments, the credit card merchant will charge a 2.75% convenience fee. This includes online Branson Parks & Recreation payments, all CitizenServe payments, business licenses, cigarette taxes and tourism taxes.
