New Law Requires Law Enforcement Officers To Take De-Escalation, Implicit Bias Training

A new law has taken effect with the new year requiring Missouri law enforcement officers to complete annual de-escalation and implicit bias training to maintain their licenses.

The law was approved by the Peace Officer Standards Training Commission in October last year.

Officers are now required to complete two separate one-hour training sessions and it’ll be part of a yearly 24 hours of educations officers have to take.
