One In Custody After Deadly Shooting In Nixa Overnight

One man has died following a shooting overnight in Nixa.

Police say the shooting happened at a home on the 1300 block of Dunrobin Castle Drive around 3 a.m. Monday

Authorities found 41-year-old Zachary Rice dead on a street outside a home.

Officers say they have the shooter in custody while detectives continue to investigate.

Nixa, MO – Nixa Police have the shooter in custody as they are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred around 3:02 a.m. on January 18, 2021 outside a home at 1345 Dunrobin Castle.

Nixa Police have identified the deceased as Zachary Shane Rice, 41, of Nixa. His next-of-kin have been notified.

At 3:02 a.m. Nixa Police were dispatched to the area of the intersection of Nicholas Rd. and W. Mt. Vernon St. for a report of shots fired. As officers arrived in the area, their investigation led them to 1345 Dunrobin Castle where Rice was found deceased outside the home in the street. Officers secured the crime scene and the shooter was detained for questioning. Detectives are on scene investigating. 

We have no reason to believe the public is in any danger at this time. We believe the individuals involved knew one another and that this was an isolated incident.
