Already bitter wind chill values have dropped even lower.
A wind chill warning is in effect through Tuesday morning, and while temperatures will drop to as low as -6, wind chills could hit -25. Frostbite is possible in as little as 30 minutes of exposure at those temperatures. That warning was put into effect at 1:36 p.m.
Meteorologist Kelsey Angle elaborated on the snowfall amount we expect to see as well as the winter weather advisory in effect.
“Snowfall accumulation [is expected] 3-4 to the west of the Highway 5 corridor, and to the east of Highway 5 [we expect] 4-6 inches of snowfall.”
The Missouri Department of Transportation warns drivers to bring a blanket, food and water if they are driving long distances, just in case. They also tell drivers to leave with a full tank of gas.
While we aren’t through this storm yet, the NWS is cautioning people about the potential for more snow later in the week.
While we are not over with this storm system until Monday, we wanted to get the message rolling on the potential for additional snow mid-week. Stay tuned for updates through the early week. #mowx #kswx pic.twitter.com/SRM9m6JrO7
