(AP) — States are doubling their efforts to get COVID-19 vaccines into more arms after last week’s winter weather closed clinics, delayed vaccine deliveries, and forced thousands to miss their scheduled shots.

The US is currently closing in on 500,000 deaths from COVID-19. President Joe Biden plans to honor the dead with a moment of silence and a candle-lighting ceremony at the White House.

He will also order US flags lowered to half-staff over the next five days.
