Joplin Mask Mandate Set to Expire Sunday

After Sunday, people in Joplin will no longer be required to wear a mask in public.

Joplin Mayor Ryan Stanley announced that the city-wide mask mandate will expire at the end of the day on Sunday, February 28th.

The mandate has been in place since November 20th.

City officials are asking people to still practice social distancing and volunteer masking.

The City of Joplin is also reminding people that businesses can establish masking guidelines, or some may be directed by a federal agency or their corporation’s policies during the pandemic.

This includes the Joplin Regional Airport and Joplin’s public transportation service with MAPS and Sunshine Lamp Trolley.

Currently, the City is in Phase 2 Step 4 of its recovery plan.

In this phase of the recovery plan, masks will still be required for restaurants and personal service businesses, such as salons and barbershops.
