Branson Man Dies After Driving Into Lake Taneycomo

Branson Man Dies After Driving Into Lake Taneycomo

Branson Police say an elderly man died after crashing his vehicle into Lake Taneycomo.

It happened Wednesday around 2 p.m. in the 100 block of River Valley Road.

Rescue crews found 87-year-old David Woolery trapped inside his vehicle.

It was wedged beneath a private dock.

Crews tried to save him, but Woolery died at the hospital.

Police say they believe his death was an accident.

Woolery is credited with starting the Taney County 911 system in 1991.

He served as the first Taney County 911 administrator.
