Springfield-based Convoy of Hope is in Laplace and Kenner, Louisiana, handing out food, water, tarps and other needed supplies to victims of Hurricane Ida.
Spokesman Ethan Forhetz says church volunteers in Laplace started handing out supplies at 10 a.m.
But by 6 a.m. there was already a line of cars a mile long waiting for assistance.
Forhetz says the heat is oppressive.
The power is out, and people have no way to stay cool.
Convoy of Hope served hundreds of families in Gonzales and Houma, Louisiana, yesterday with food, water, and relief supplies. Thanks to your kindness, Convoy continues to serve people around Southern Louisiana, whose lives were turned upside down by #HurricaneIda. pic.twitter.com/ZAESRCwQJH
