Fire Destroys Home Of Man Charged In Cassidy Rainwater’s Disappearance

The Dallas County sheriff says the home of one of the men charged in the disappearance of Cassidy Rainwater burned to the ground Monday night.

KY3 says the fire marshal is investigating the fire near Lebanon.

The home is a total loss.

James Phelps told investigators Rainwater had been staying with him, but left his home in July in the middle of the night.

Phelps and Timothy Norton are charged with kidnapping Rainwater.

Both men are scheduled to be in court today.

The Springfield Bomb Squad was called to the fire scene after a sheriff’s deputy found a possible tripwire on the property.

The bomb squad detonated the device.

Dallas County authorities were originally sent to the property after the FBI received an anonymous tip showing pictures of Rainwater partially nude and locked up in a cage.

They alerted Dallas County authorities, who went to the home.

The sheriff told KY3 he’s waiting for DNA evidence to come back in the case.
